ISurTec is committed to research and development. Our interdisciplinary staff of scientists and engineers enjoys designing new coated products for the medical and scientific community.  Our research is supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Small Business Innovative Research Program (SBIR).

Coatings for Ureteral Stents

Ureteral stents, and other medical devices in the urinary tract, frequently suffer from encrustation with calcium and magnesium salts. ISurTec is developing a coating to reduce encrustation, allowing longer lifetimes of devices with less pain for patients.

Neural tissue engineering scaffolds

Our scaffolds will be produced in a standardized format compatible with common electrophysiology equipment such as multielectrode arrays. The scaffolds are designed to enable high-throughput electrophysiological assays with high predictive power for multiple neurotransmitter systems including glutamatergic, cholinergic, dopaminergic, serotonergic, noradrenergic, and GABAergic circuits.
