This R&D position will perform technology development and customer-oriented application research for advanced surface modification technologies used in medical devices. ISURTEC invents, manufactures, and markets cutting-edge products and technologies that advance biointerfacial surfaces for medical devices, biopharma, cell culture, tissue engineering, and diagnostics.
ISURTEC is looking for a creative & self-motivated team player to fill this position. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working at the interface of living systems and biomaterials. Knowledge or experience related to polymer coatings, biointerfacial systems, biotherapeutics manufacturing, drug delivery, or cell and tissue-based assays for drug development will also be viewed positively. The successful candidate will assist with technology development, play a lead role in development of pilot scale production and application methods, and can creatively develop novel technologies from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct hands-on research developing, applying, and testing coatings for biomedical applications in medical devices and cell culture
• Develop automated or semiautomated methods to apply coatings to devices and substrates
• Characterization of biological responses to coatings using established assay methods
• Assist with technical writing including grant applications, intellectual property filings, and documentation of research
Required Qualifications
• US citizen or permanent resident (authorized to work on NIH Grants) required
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a biomedical environment
• Experience with Solidworks and 3D printing techniques required
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Solid understanding of organic chemistry, biochemistry cell and molecular biology, and related laboratory techniques required
• Medical device experience is a plus
• Mammalian cell culture experience is a plus
Education
B.S. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field
