Technology
ISurTec® technology is based primarily on new latent-reactive reagents for covalent bonding under gentle, manufacturing-friendly reaction conditions, of biomolecules, polymers, and micro/nano-particles with other surfaces and with one another. Thin-film surface modifications are being developed and demonstrated for improved control of wettability, wet lubricity, biomolecule immobilization and superhydrophobic surfaces.
Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) R&D proposals have been submitted on the following topics:
- Antifibrotic drug delivery coatings for implanted medical devices
- Microparticle coating for passivation and biomolecule immobilization in bioanalytic systems
- Micro/Nano-particle immobilization for microarray diagnostic systems
- New latent-reactive nanofiber compositions for composites and nanotextured surfaces
- New latent-reactive reagents for biomolecule immobilization on "spintronic" biosensors
- Antimicrobial and analgesic drug delivery for implanted orthopedic and other medical devices
- SuperHydro/OleoPhobic coatings for filter membranes and other surfaces
- SuperHydrophobic coatings for corrosion control
- Degradable microparticles for targeted drug delivery
- SuperHydrophobic Microbicidal coatings for endotracheal tubing
- Targeted gene (siRNA) delivery particles for cancer cells
- Biomimetic bioadhesive polymers for cardiovascular medical devices
Eight (8) of these projects have been partially funded by SBIR grants . Others have been initiated with private funds.
